UPCOMING BRANCH EVENTS

Every day at various times: We need Fellow Workers to participate in consumer education. Please email FW Frank if you would like to sign up for a shift. We have also started a Slack to coordinate our consumer education shifts - please email Frank if you would liek to get added to our channel.

Saturday, October 6 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Join the Industrial Workers of the World's New York City General Membership Branch for a night of music by all-IWW acts to raise money for three current IWW campaigns organizing workers at restaurants, bakeries, and prisons in and around the five boroughs. Pre-order your tickets today!

Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m.: Attend an orientation for new members of the NYC GMB. The orientation will take place prior to our monthly branch meeting and acquaint you with the history of the IWW, current NYC GMB campaigns, rules for how the monthly meeting proceeds, and more. Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28: The Buffalo General Membership Branch is holding an Organizer Training 101. Register here.

The branch is organizing an action in solidarity with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers at the end of October (exact date and time still being worked out). This action will be a great opportunity to build solidarity within the branch and with other groups. If you are interested in coming out or would like to help with logistics, please email [email protected].

PROTESTS, PICKETS & MORE AROUND THE CITY

Saturday, September 29 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Join our allies, the Democratic Socialists of America, for Sing in Solidarity: Open Sing with DSA Chorus. RSVP here.

Saturday, September 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Attend the Labor Notes NYC Troublemakers School for a day of organizing workshops. Register here.

Thursday Mornings at 6 a.m. and Tuesday Afternoons at 3 p.m.: Join union workers on the northwest corner of 34 Street and 10 Avenue to protest greedy developers at the Hudson Yards.

Every Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Join striking Spectrum workers at these locations around the city.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

The branch has voted to create two new office positions: Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer. The position descriptions are currently being drafted, and will be ready before the next monthly meeting - just in time for nominations!

Branch officer nominations will take place at October’s monthly meeting. If you are interested in being nominated or have questions about what the roles entail - please reach out to one of the current officers.
