CALL TO ACTION
May 1st is International Workers’ Day
We march on May 1st to show our solidarity with working people everywhere. This includes immigrants, women, indigenous people, poor people, queer people, trans people, and people of color.
We march on May 1st to commemorate those who came before us to demand dignity on the job, those who came together to win such rights as the 8-hour day and the weekend. Today we continue to fight as these rights slowly slip away.
The Industrial Workers of the World believe that all workers can come together to create a better tomorrow. We believe in abolishing the wage system and empowering workers to take control of their jobs and their lives.
“We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old!”
Join us on May Day as we march and declare: An Injury to One is an Injury to All!

Howard Schultz Joins the IWW By Wobbly City April 01, 2008 At a press conference this morning, Howard Schultz announced his decision to join the Industrial Workers of the World. Schultz will be giving up his post as CEO and moving to New York to work as a barista at the Union Square West location.
Schultz cited the $8/hr wage and unguaranteed hours as largely influencing his reason to become a barista. “It dawned on me recently that I’ve always lived a safe life,” Schultz told the media at the press conference this morning. “Now I can finally live on the edge. Never knowing if I’ll be able to pay the rent on time is exactly the kind of excitement I’ve been craving.”
While Starbucks executives are scratching their heads at the decision, IWW organizers say it was just a matter of time. “The truth is, I’ve always really liked the guy,” says IWW organizer Daniel Gross. “The union welcomes him with open arms.”
A representative from the IWW added: “April Fools.”
